Booth's ATA Black Belt Academy Offers Community Child Safety Seminar
American Fork, UT (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Booth's ATA Black Belt Academy in American Fork has announced plans for a free community Child Safety Seminar scheduled for 10:00 AM, December 7, 2013. The Open House is part of ATA Martial Arts’ worldwide initiative to help minimize the risk of child abduction through education. With active membership exceeding 350,000 worldwide and 1,200 schools in the U.S. and abroad, ATA is positively positioned to reach children and adults with the message of abduction prevention. As part of the safety campaign, ATA has partnered with AMBER Alert.com to increase AMBER Alert notification via e-mail and personal communication devices. Once an AMBER Alert is issued, AMBER Alert.com uses state-of-the-art technology to notify its subscribers of a missing child in a specific area.
According to local ATA instructor Benjamin Booth, education is the key to child safety. "Children often lack sufficient training to identify who a stranger is. 7 out of 10 Children will go with a stranger even though they have been warned 'not to go with strangers' due to a lack of understand about 'who is a stranger'. We teach them how to identify strangers though an interactive scenario based training system. We also teach them how to get away if someone gets too close,” says Mr. Booth.
Children of all age, gender and race are vulnerable to child abduction. Yearly around 750,000 children are reported missing in the United States, about 2000 children a day. For every successful stranger abduction, there are many more failed attempts. While there is no way to know the exact number, as many cases are disregarded and never reported, it is estimated that there are around 20 failed attempts for every successful abduction. We much make sure the children in our community are prepared.
