Botanical Decorators Receives National Landscape Award of Excellence
Olney, MD (PRWEB) November 15, 2013 -- Botanical Decorators is proud to announce that it has been awarded three Grand Awards in the Residential Design build category of the 2013 National Landscape Awards of Excellence Program sponsored by the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Botanical Decorators was also the recipient of the highly coveted "Judges Choice" award.
"This property was a very tight back yard with the main house, a guesthouse, and garage that all had their own look and didn't relate to each other. The house sits on a very busy road in Alexandria, VA and has virtually no access from the front, so day-to-day living, as well as formal entertaining, was approached from this perspective. It was critically important to get this one right. The lawn was framed with cobble stone featuring a center circle medallion which helps center the eye to the reconstructed arbor and screened porch. All the railings and trim were replaced with custom fabricated components for a unique look. On the opposite side of the yard, we converted a patio that sat too low, collected water and had a non-functioning fireplace into the extended entertainment portion of the yard with an oversized dining patio, and a sitting/conversational patio with a fireplace as a centerpiece. The sitting walls and grilling station hold back the grade in a very understated fashion that allows guests to feel nestled into the garden while regaining critical space from the hillside. This project has everything our estate properties have in a fourth of the space. All so enjoyable, and never thought possible by our client."
