Boxwood Apprentice Challenge Raises Over £16,500 For Shooting Star Chase
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 21 May 2014 -- Boxwood the award winning management consultancy, has raised £16,500 for the Shooting Star Chase charity by hosting a number of fundraising events. These culminated in an apprentice style challenge, where four staff teams from Boxwood took over separate branches of the chain last week, competing between themselves to raise as much money as possible.
The final charity event on May 16th was an opportunity to put Boxwood’s expertise in retail consultancy to practical test. The consultants swapped suits for fancy dress (photos supplied) to try different retail strategies at each of the four West London Shooting Star Chase charity shops they took over.
Each team employed a range of different and eye catching tactics aimed to boost the takings of their team’s shop. As well as dressing up, there was bag packing, story time and colouring competitions. The winning team on the day ran the Hampton Hill branch and raised over £1,000.
Commenting on the challenge, Chris Wakerley, CEO of Boxwood said: “This was great fun and a chance to put something back into our local communities while fostering a little good natured competition. Our staff really rose to the challenge we set them, and threw all their expertise into making this Charity day such a success. They have worked hard behind the scenes in the run up to Friday’s shop take over, by sourcing auction items, baking cakes and considering the best way to make their individual shops appealing to the public. We are delighted by the final total and are still awaiting further donations from our online fund raising pages.”

Our Apprentice Shop Challenge event with them was a huge success and places Boxwood firmly as the top performers in this challenge. Over £16,500 was raised for our charity through various activities that included Bake Sales, Raffles, Auctions and Quiz Night leading up to and including the Apprentice Challenge day itself – these funds will help give security to important parts of our work. It costs £9.5 million a year just to maintain our current level of care and, with approximately 10% of our income coming from government funding, we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. What’s more, we know there are many more families desperate for our vital support, so it’s crucial we raise more funds to provide more care.
