Bra and Shapewear Entrepreneur/Inventor from NYS Speaking at RPI BOSS Event December 5, 2013
Albany,New York (PRWEB) December 03, 2013 -- Bra and Shapewear Entrepreneur/Inventor from NYS Speaking at
RPI BOSS Event December 5, 2013
"I became an inventor because I was asked to be a bridesmaid...and the dress was my worst fear realized." And that's how Tara Cavosie, designer of a strapless/backless bra and HookedUp Shapewear got started.
"My dress was backless with tiny spaghetti straps - no bra worked. And so I taught myself to sew, and created the perfect design: a full support, backless strapless bra." Necessity also spurred Tara to recently create new shapewear that wouldn't roll down, wouldn't cause muffin top or bulging back fat. She created unique shapewear that hooks to a woman's bra and never rolls down. The garment, HookedUp Shapewear is now on the market.
Cavosie will be a speaker at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute's 2013 BOSS (Business Opportunities to Success Summit): Mastering the Pivot! It is at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, NY, all day December 5, 2013, from 7 am to 7 pm.
Cavosie's talk is titled, Solving Your Own Problems: Consumer Product Innovation, and she offers three takeaway points. First, just because it doesn't exist, doesn't mean it can't! Second, be passionate. And third, put on your boxing gloves!
Tara's story of launching her first invention, the strapless backless bra involves perseverance and old fashioned bravery. "I contacted a company that made specialty undergarments and became a squeaky wheel. I wouldn't take no for an answer and called very day until someone agreed to meet with me...and they finally did."
Cavosie met with the CEO in a NYC hotel lobby. "After talking about my design for 5 minutes, she wanted to see it and asked if I was wearing it. I was. We went up to her hotel room and then, I did something I had never done in a meeting before. I took off my top and show her my bra. She instantly loved it and we shook hands right then and made a deal on the spot."
Cavosie's bra has been sold since 1999. Her newest venture had similar beginnings. She needed the product and so she created it. The new product is sold on its website: http://www.HookedUpShapewear.com.
