Bradenton and Palmetto Area Residents Receive Complimentary Laundry Service Through Laundry Project
Bradenton, FL (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- For the first time since the project was created, Current of Tampa Bay, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is hosting its Laundry Project in the Bradenton/Palmetto area.
Volunteers are providing free laundry services to customers at two local laundromats on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at Super Matt Coin Laundry, located at 1909 Tamiami Trail in Bradenton and at Elite Coin Laundry of Palmetto at 1527 8th Ave. W. in Palmetto.
“We are really looking forward to expanding our support to the residents of Bradenton and Palmetto through the Laundry Project,” said President of Current of Tampa Bay, Jason Sowell. “Many people don’t understand how difficult it is for others to afford clean clothes and with support from the Laundry Project, we are able to restore a little hope and confidence in those who need assistance.”
According to USA.com, 17.91 percent of Palmetto and 17.12 percent of Bradenton residents are living in poverty. The Laundry Project helps provide clean laundry to low-income residents by providing the laundry detergent and coins necessary to wash customers’ clothes. During a recent event in Las Vegas, Current washed more than 600 loads of laundry for 64 families and strives to help just as many people on Saturday.
The student ministry of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton is sponsoring the event by fully funding the projects and staffing the volunteers and is part of the church’s mission weekend. Local Community members can make donations of much needed supplies including detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener and laundry baskets.
