Brand New RPG Video Game About Popol-Vuh, a Comical Version of the Sacred Book of Maya Is In Production At Monarresbro Studio
Queretaro, Mexico (PRWEB) July 07, 2014 -- Popolvuh is a video game long production that is currently being built by Joel Monarres, a native of Mexico, and his eleven-year-old son. Their goal is to make a game that is not just fun for young children but educational as well. Based on an old Mayan legend, the premise of the game is that you are a Mayan prince who is trying to defeat a plethora of evil creatures that are trying to stop the world from being created.
"We decided to begin a great project together, to bring the Popol-Vuh myth into a non violent video game for children. Me, the father, with more than 20 years of software development experience along with my little son, who has more than 7 years of video game experience and a great imagination started to work and to put a team of internet freelancers together since December 2012," says Joel Monarres.
The Mexican family based studio, known as Monarresbro, is looking forward to launch a web based game version in order to build the brands popularity before they are able to get Popol-Vuh into mainstream gaming consoles. As of now, they are attempting to complete the first chapter of the game called, "Popol-Vuh, The Kingdom of Birds." This has been a year and a half collaboration of various writers, cartoonists, modelers, programmers, musicians, translators and voice actors from all over the world.
Though Monarresbro studio has already made great progress in the production, the amount of work that is needed to complete a fully functional video game is beyond the reach of just a small studio. This is why they are now looking to build funds in order to complete the project. Currently, they have a crowdfunding campaign live on Indiegogo. The funds will be used to keep the freelance programmers that are nowadays in testing phase, as well as for promotion of the completed game to executives of companies like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft and manufacturing of the finished product. They will be giving away various perks to those who choose to contribute.
Joel Monarres was quoted as saying, "At this moment, we have invested so much money during these 16 months that we cannot keep it up any longer, but we need to finish testing and editing many small tech details in the first chapter to be able to launch it to the market and have a great quality game to compete with other similar products."
The series will have seven chapters, each of which will be funded with the revenue that was made from the previous one. So, if chapter 1 is successful, there will be a chapter two, three, four, all the way to chapter seven.
Without more funding, the project, which has currently been produced using the family's savings, will come to a halt. If their financial burdens are met, they plan on having a final version of the game ready to be marketed in late November of this year.
