Branditise Wins 2014 ICT Category National Innovation Award
Kingston, Jamaica (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- Branditise was named the 2014 National Innovation Awards winner in the Information and Communication Technology category at the National Medal for Science, Technology and Innovation Awards Ceremony held on November 12, at Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston. The function is a joint ceremony of the National Commission for Science & Technology and the Scientific Research Council.
Wayne Marsh, founder of Branditise.com, expressed gratitude on behalf of his team for being recognised with the Award. He further stated that he and his team will continue to develop and grow the product to ensure that it remains innovative and relevant in achieving business growth for its users.
Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller presented the 2014 National Medal for Science and Technology to noted scientist, Dr. Henry Lowe, who specialises in medical chemistry. Other winners included the 2014 Innovator of the Year Harlo Mayne for his H2-Flex Hydrogen Hybrid Kit; Fonseca Jack Stuart for his ‘Micro Oceanwave Generator’ in the Energy category; and Mark Bennett for his innovation called ‘Active Regulator Generator’ in the category of Engineering and Manufacturing.
In the Environmental Sustainability category, the Construction and Resource Development Centre received the top award for an invention entitled ‘Earthquake Resistance Construction using Bamboo’. For the Youth Innovator category, Dave Oakley was awarded for his invention called ‘Crimebot’; Allison Turner won the Agriculture, Food and Agro Processing category for her ‘Sorrel Harvesting Machine’; and Jovan Evans won for his invention called ‘Pump-n-Spray’.
The biennial Scientific Research Council’s Innovation Awards ceremony was staged for the fifth time since its introduction in 2005. It is aimed at nurturing a culture of creativity and stimulating or catalyzing innovation through the application of science and technology, to drive economic growth and wealth creation in Jamaica. Just under 100 entries were received this year from a wide array of entrants and from a variety of industries.
