Braveheart Highland Pub Owner Readies for World Cup FIFA Soccer Viewing at Authentic Scottish Pub
Hellertown, PA (PRWEB) June 14, 2014 -- World Cup Soccer Fever is here, and Braveheart Highland Pub owner Andy Lee, is ramping up for the World Cup Series this June and July.
Luckily for Lee, a son of Scottish immigrant parents and a cousin to John Marr who played in the 1978 World Cup for Scotland, European soccer is in his DNA.
During the 2010 World Cup games four years ago, the bustling Braveheart Pub unfurled international soccer flags as customers stood shoulder-to-shoulder. Patrons even arrived during the wee hours of the morning, to watch the games, sometimes standing out on the parking lot, and toughing out the five hour difference from South Africa.
This year, with the World Cup held in Brazil, Lee says Braveheart is ready for the added traffic, and added benefit of only a one hour time difference.
The pub will open all three floors, from the leather upholstered and tartan clad private party room on the third floor, to the chummy Lowlands Pub in the basement. Seating capacity inside is about 225 to 250 people, says Lee, adding that for overflow, roomy tents will be added outside.
To up the revelry when the World Cup Kicks- off Saturday, June 14th with England against Italy, the chef and staff at Braveheart will create special menu items and drinks.
Lee unrolls a giant illustrated graph of the World Cup teams that will be playing, The graph is a compass of sorts, to track which games, beers, and menu items may prove best for the fans as the soccer series continues.
“Back in 2010, we had fans arriving as early as 6 a.m. and we were here to serve them,” says Lee, recalling a jovial packed bar area, and patrons who watched screens outside the tavern from the parking lot. This year, roomy tents will be added for overflow, adds Lee.
Braveheart is also pleased to promote a practice most taverns elsewhere in the world simply can't do. "We are encouraging fans to wear their favorite team's colors," says Lee.
“Here in America, you can wear favorite team colors to a pub,” in Scotland and other parts of the world, it simply cannot be allowed due to passionate fans,” explains Lee.
