British Photographer Crosses the Atlantic to Bring San Francisco Into the Light
Southend, Essex (PRWEB UK) 13 September 2016 -- Showcasing more than 800 emerging and established artists, SF Open Studios has been running for over 40 years and has become the largest open studios program in the US. During the month-long event, UK-based artist Simon Isaac will be exhibiting his most recent release of images entitled ‘Into the Light’ at the Merchants of Reality gallery on 9th Street.
An exploration over 30 years, Into the Light portrays visions of an apocalyptic future created by mans’ own hand. Photographed predominantly on location in Chernobyl, Paris, Berlin and Pripyat, Ukraine, Simon’s latest work shows the potential devastation of nuclear power on the human race. Each image captures dereliction and abandonment and life after disaster whilst highlighting the power of nature to adapt and survive in extreme circumstances when man is removed from the equation.
Into the Light features work shot with vintage 35mm Leica, Polaroid and digital Fujifilm cameras incorporating double exposures and black and white imagery.
Simon, who will make a month-long trip to San Francisco for the exhibition says: “I have a real affinity to San Francisco and the ArtSpan Open Studios event is world-class. I’m so pleased to have connected with the guys at Merchants of Reality, as a hugely respected body of artists in the city, I’m looking forward to working with them. Into the Light has been a labour of love as I’ve travelled around the world creating it and I’m looking forward to exhibiting to a new audience, meeting other artists and seeing people’s reactions to my work in person.”
