Brookhaven Retreat Attends DBT Training in February
(PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Brookhaven Retreat is sending a five-person clinical team to participate in dialectical behavior therapy training February 3-7. The training, provided by Behavioral Tech, LLC, takes place in Cary, N.C. and is the first of a two-part, 10-day training that will conclude in August.
Dialectical behavior therapy provides women with borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder and other complex mental health issues the tools to manage their emotions and complete successful recovery. The five-person clinical team attending this training will elevate Brookhaven Retreat’s current dialectical behavior therapy program to a higher standard.
The first part of the training will focus on implementing the structure, goals and stages of DBT; creating DBT treatment plans; exploring the DBT skill set; demonstrating use of dialectics; complex problem-solving; application of validation; suicide crisis protocols and many other topics.
The five-person team will continue to meet on a weekly basis to work on the implementation of dialectical behavior therapy in Brookhaven Retreat’s residential setting.
This training is part of a comprehensive education effort by Brookhaven Retreat, which commits itself to providing the highest quality care and treatment to women with mental health and substance abuse issues.
The second part of the training will take place August 4-8 and will focus on individual issues specific to Brookhaven Retreat. This will enable the clinical team to create protocols for those specific issues and adapt dialectical behavior therapy to its unique treatment setting.
