Brookhaven Retreat Hosted a Therapeutic Outing to Knoxville’s 17th Annual Earthfest on April 16, 2016
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) April 21, 2016 -- Brookhaven Retreat® LLC, a unique residential treatment facility exclusively for women with emotional and mental health challenges and/or substance abuse issues, hosted a therapeutic outing to Knoxville’s 17th annual Earthfest at the World’s Fair Park performance lawn in downtown Knoxville, followed by a stop at Hobby Lobby to purchase art supplies on April 16.
EarthFest has become East Tennessee’s premier Earth Day event with live music and more than 60 exhibitors and attractions designed to promote environmental awareness and provide opportunities for individuals to reduce their environmental footprint.
Clients enjoyed the day as experiential therapy, which aligns with Brookhaven Retreat’s mission to help clients recover from mental health and addiction issues. As part of The Lily Program®, clients learn how to develop a well-rounded and healthy lifestyle by balancing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs for a successful life and a sustained recovery.
“The women who come here collect a whole new set of tools to give them the courage and competence to be true to themselves by being the best they can be,” says Brookhaven Retreat founder, Jacqueline Dawes. “Taking these new tools out into the world and using them is an important part of recovery.”
Outings to local educational events offer the added opportunity to learn about Tennessee, a panorama of outdoor delights including trails, waterfalls, bluffs and river gorges, and its rich historic culture.

Clients purchased art supplies at Hobby Lobby to use during art therapy, also standard in The Lily Program, where all aspects of self are explored and exercised.
