Brookhaven Retreat Hosted a Therapeutic Outing to the Blount Country Historical Museum and Cades Cove Museum on June 18th.
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) June 30, 2016 -- Brookhaven Retreat®, LLC, a unique residential treatment facility exclusively for women with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, hosted a therapeutic outing to the Blount County Historical Museum and Cades Cove Museum on June 18th.
As part of The Lily Program®, a 90-day treatment for women offered exclusively at Brookhaven Retreat, clients embark on diverse therapeutic outings as an opportunity for recreation, education, and intellectual stimulation outside of the Seymour Tennessee-based facility.
Whether you are a native to East Tennessee, or are visiting for the first time, it doesn’t take long to realize how special East Tennessee is. In addition to the breathtaking landscapes of the mountains and valleys, it offers deep history that is unique to the area.
The Blount County Historical Museum and Cades Cove Museum, located in neighboring Maryville, TN, features displays of artifacts throughout Blount County’s history that focus on the people, places, and events that shaped Blount County. The Cades Cove Museum offers history of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and how people used their creativity and resourcefulness during challenging times.
Jacqueline Dawes, founder of Brookhaven Retreat, says, “One of the many benefits of coming to Brookhaven Retreat is getting acquainted with our beautiful corner of the world and its fascinating history. It is equally enriching and necessary for clients to step outside the facility with their new awareness and get in touch with history during treatment. That way they are able to get a taste of what it will be like when they complete their stay with us and move into the Aftercare phase of the program.” Upon completion of the 90-day program, the Aftercare program offers ongoing support long after a client has been discharged.
The clients also visited a local Hobby Lobby craft store during the therapeutic outing to purchase art supplies for projects.
