Brooklyn Personal Training and Fitness Boot Camp Clients & Staff Raise $4000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC by Doing 2200 "Burpees" in Ten Minutes
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 21, 2013 -- A Park Slope, Brooklyn personal training and group fitness studio, Quinn Essential Fitness, challenged their clients and staff to do as many burpees as possible in ten minutes to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC.
Thirty super heroes, ranging from age 5 to 45 stepped up to the challenge braving blowing snow and arctic temperatures to reach the event location. They each did an average of 74 burpees - a demanding full body exercise that's both revered and feared in fitness circles.
Equally as impressive as the punishing ten minutes of burpeess was the $4000 the group raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York in the month leading up to the competition. Taking advantage of social media and email to get the word out fast and far, the group was able to exceed their goal by over $1000.
Said owner Jon Quinn - still recovering from the soreness of his contribution to the burpee tally, "This far exceeded our expectations. Its amazing what can happen when you combine a little healthy competition with fundraising for a great cause. We can't wait to double or even triple our results next year."
