BROWZ Awarded Safe Harbor and TRUSTe Certification for Supply Chain Management Solutions
Draper, Utah (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- BROWZ LLC today announced its commitment to their client’s security and privacy, through third party certifications of both Safe Harbor and TRUSTe; standards recognized for excellence in data privacy and security.
The Safe Harbor standard was developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in conjunction with The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection. This standard provides assurances related to data security and the handling of data. Safe Harbor Certification requires adherence to seven key principles of privacy, security and data integrity, including:
• Notice - Individuals must be informed that their data is being collected and how it will be used.
• Choice - Individuals must have the ability to opt out of the collection and forward transfer of the data to third parties.
• Onward Transfer - Transfers of data to third parties may only occur to other organizations that follow adequate data protection principles.
• Security - Reasonable efforts must be made to prevent loss of collected information.
• Data Integrity - Data must be relevant and reliable for the purpose it was collected.
• Access - Individuals must be able to access information held about them, and correct or delete it if it is inaccurate.
• Enforcement - There must be effective means of enforcing these rules.
In addition to Safe Harbor, BROWZ is also TRUSTe certified, an expansive standard of privacy requirements that organizations may elect to adopt to demonstrate organizational commitment to data privacy. Upon certification TRUSTe provides certified members with a privacy seal that can be placed on the member’s home page. This privacy seal provides assurance to BROWZ Compliance Network Members that the company adheres to and abides by internationally recognized standards of privacy and data integrity.
"In a world of ongoing privacy concerns, we felt it important to demonstrate and validate what we have been doing for years here at BROWZ," said Derek Borgert, BROWZ CTO. "By formally certifying with Safe Harbor and TRUSTe our customers have further assurance that BROWZ takes our responsibility seriously, and that we take great measures to ensure their privacy and the security of their supplier compliance data."
Data security extends beyond physical borders. As a provider of global compliance services BROWZ recognized the need to formally adopt security measures recognized by the international community. "As many of our clients operate internationally, they require the assurance that data generated anywhere around the world, as part of their global supply chain compliance efforts, will be managed according to local data protection standards. Our Safe Harbor and TRUSTe certifications demonstrate BROWZ's commitment to our expanding global client base," Borgert adds.
BROWZ CEO, Elaine Beitler said, "The decision to formally adopt these certifications was an easy one for us. BROWZ Clients expect us to provide accurate, independent verification and contractor screening assessments for the contractors and suppliers they employ in a secure environment, and we are committed to protecting the data they rely on to make these informed supply chain decisions."
