BSO Announces Annual “Rusty Musicians with the BSO” in Baltimore, September 18
Baltimore, Md. (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces the much-anticipated annual Rusty Musicians with the BSO on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. (Group 1) and 7:50 p.m. (Group 2) at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. This event gives community instrumental musicians the ability to play side-by-side with a world-class orchestra. Under the direction of Music Director Marin Alsop, un-auditioned string, brass, wind and percussion instrumentalists will participate in rehearsals and perform selections from Edward Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suites and Piotr Illyich Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture - Fantasy. The cost to participate is $60 per group; attendance at this event is free and open to the public. Please see below for complete program details.
Rusty Musicians celebrates the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s vibrant relationship with the community and all musicians. Part of the BSO Academy programs, these year-long opportunities for community musicians range include the one-night Rusty Musicians, day-long Instrument Clinics, the weekend-long BSO Academy Festival at Artscape, and the intensive BSO Academy Week. As one participant described the on‐stage experience with the BSO, “It is like jumping inside of a painting or work of art you have admired for years.” Initiated in 2010, the unique Rusty Musicians program has since been copied by symphonies across the United States. To register, visit BSOmusic.org.rusty and fill out the online form. Participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is encouraged to ensure a spot.
• Participants must be age 21 or older
• Orchestral instrumentalists should be able to read music and play an instrument that is part of the standard orchestra instrumentation.
• Instrumentalists are invited to participate in Groups 1 and/or 2
• Online registration is open
• Participants must submit a non-refundable registration fee at the time of registration ($60 for one group experience, $120 for two group experiences)
• Acceptance will be confirmed via email
