Buckeye Pens to Open Outlet Store at Traders World This Weekend
MONROE, Ohio (PRWEB) August 01, 2013 -- At first glance you might think the new Buckeye Pens store got lost on the way to the Cincinnati Premium Outlet Mall across the street. Judging from the upscale, minimalist design of the store and the beautiful pens sold there, it’s easy to make that mistake. But although the look is decidedly upscale, the new location was definitely part of the plan. According to store owner Len Kaltman, “By locating at Trader’s World, we save thousands of dollars in rent and can pass significant savings on to our customers.”
In June of 2012, Kaltman and his son Michael looked for something they could do together as a hobby. They both enjoyed woodworking and decided to make high quality, handcrafted wooden pens together. Word quickly spread about these beautifully unique pens and the Kaltman’s started working the craft show circuit. Soon after they joined the West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance, a new business was born! On Sunday, August 4th Buckeye Pens will celebrate with a ribbon cutting at their outlet store at Trader’s World. Conveniently located in the main aisle across from the food court, Kaltman is excited at the amount of traffic and attention his new store and products have received during construction and expects a very busy opening day.
“There are almost 12 million proud Buckeyes in Ohio and each one of them is unique,” said Kaltman. “The same is true of our pens because the wood used comes from a Buckeye Tree, the state tree of Ohio.” Unlike many woods which look similar from one piece to the next, every piece of Buckeye has a different grain pattern so no two are exactly alike. Each pen is hand turned on a lathe, carefully finished and assembled by Kaltman and a growing number of Ohio artisans working for the new company. Buckeye Pens are a combination of high quality pen components and carefully selected lumber and are only sold in Ohio. A number of gift stores have already ordered pens, and Kaltman is showing his upscale Artisan Line at the Columbus Ohio Gift Fair in August.
