Buffalo Funds Announce a New Hire and Portfolio Manager Changes Effective January 5th, 2015
Mission, KS (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- Kornitzer Capital Management (KCM), investment advisor to the Buffalo Funds, is pleased to announce the following new hire and is making Portfolio Manager changes to certain Buffalo Funds effective immediately:
Mr. Jamie Cuellar, CFA, joined KCM this January as an equity Portfolio Manager serving on the Buffalo Small Cap Fund (BUFSX). Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cuellar was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for the US Small Cap and US Micro Cap Growth Strategies for PineBridge Investments. Other industry experience includes time with John McStay Investment Counsel, Brazos Capital Management and recently with Northern Trust’s wealth advisory practice in Dallas, TX. Mr. Cuellar has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the University of San Diego and an MBA from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
“We are thrilled to have Jamie join our team,” said Mr. Clay Brethour, President of Buffalo Funds. “His addition adds depth to our growth equity research team and the small cap strategy in particular. We wish Jamie all the best as he brings his family to the Kansas City area and continues his career with KCM and the Buffalo Funds.”
Concurrently, Mr. John Bichelmeyer will drop off the Buffalo Small Cap Fund as a co-Portfolio Manager to focus his efforts solely on the Buffalo Emerging Opportunities Fund (BUFOX). Mr. Bichelmeyer has been a co-Portfolio Manager of the Buffalo Emerging Opportunities Fund since 2007 and will continue to apply his talent for identifying fast-growing, early-stage growth companies, with an emphasis on those around $1 billion in market capitalization or below.
Additionally, Mr. Jeff Deardorff, CFA, was named a co-Portfolio Manager of the Buffalo High Yield Fund (BUFHX). Mr. Deardorff, who has been a research analyst with the firm since 2002, will join Mr. Paul Dlugosch, CFA, Mr. Alex Hancock, CFA, and Mr. Jeff Sitzmann, CFA, as a 4th co-Portfolio Manager of the Buffalo High Yield Fund. “This a well-deserved promotion given Jeff’s commitment to the Fund and the firm as a research analyst over the years. He brings additional strength to the high yield team now as a co-Portfolio Manager of the Fund,” said Mr. Brethour.
In other developments, Dave Carlsen, CFA, is being added to the Buffalo Midcap Fund (BUFMX) as a co-Portfolio Manager effective immediately and Mr. Kent Gasaway, CFA, drops off of the Fund to focus on the Buffalo Small Cap Fund (BUFSX). Mr. Carlsen has been a co-Portfolio Manager with the firm since 2004 and joins Bob Male, CFA, who has been a co-Portfolio Manager on the Buffalo Mid Cap Fund since its inception in 2001.
The changes above are designed to realign the investment staff to help maximize the probability of success for each Fund going forward and we believe are in best interest of our Fund shareholders long term.
