Burlesque, BBQ, and Bourbon: Owning Our Bodies, Strutting Our Stuff
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 25, 2015 -- Alternate ROOTS announces the host committee for its inaugural fundraising event - “Burlesque, Barbeque and Bourbon” - October 24th, 2015 at Paris on Ponce.
The host committee includes: Simone Bell, Georgia House of Representatives, Kwanza Hall, Atlanta City Council District 2, Camille Russell Love, City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, and Kathie de Nobriga, Mayor of Pine Lake, among many other dynamic and civically minded leaders.
Burlesque, BBQ AND Bourbon (3BQ) will be a little risqué, a little raucous, and a whole lot of fun. It’s a flavor-filled sensory experience with scrumptious locally sourced BBQ and locally grown produce showcased in a menu curated by one of Atlanta’s top rated private chefs. Guests will sip signature cocktails featuring JR Revelry bourbon, all while being entertained by an array of amazing artists in a cabaret atmosphere in Paris On Ponce’s renowned Le’ Maison Rouge.
Burlesque, BBQ, and Bourbon will feature some of Atlanta’s burlesque favorites and Alternate ROOTS artists, an amazing bbq feast, and a true Southern libation, bourbon. Founded in 1976, Alternate ROOTS is a network organization and community of Southern artists, five hundred plus members strong each year, who create original work across all artistic disciplines. These award winning artists’ work is rooted in the South --- they are connected and committed to the land, its people, and their stories.
Additionally their work illuminates the social and economic justice issues of our times. ROOTS is a nationally recognized organization with a regional focus. It provides programs, projects, and activities to support activist artists and their communities working to build a better world, and a better South.
