Burns & McDonnell Bolsters the Size of its Water Group in St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) December 09, 2015 -- Burns & McDonnell has hired Rebecca Losli, PE, to lead its growing Water Group in the St. Louis region. In addition to her focus on municipal projects in the St. Louis metropolitan area, Rebecca will also lead specialized initiatives throughout the country. For the past decade, Rebecca has played an integral part in managing complex municipal water projects, including master planning for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District’s (MSD) multibillion-dollar consent decree program.
Rebecca comes to Burns & McDonnell after serving as CEO of her own firm, Losli Engineering. As part of her transition to Burns & McDonnell, Rebecca will bring key members of her skilled team to further strengthen the Water practice, including Maggie Thurmond, Rhoda Hall and Shawn Singer.

In addition to leading the Water Group in St. Louis, Losli will spearhead all wastewater planning nationally for Burns & McDonnell. Over the past decade, Rebecca worked with a team to develop the Sanitary Sewer Overflow Control Master Plan, Combined Sewer Overflow Long-Term Control Plan, and Wastewater Treatment Master Plan for the MSD’s consent decree program, which includes more than 450 projects at a cost of over $4.7 billion. As part of an integrated consultant-owner team, Losli led the development of the capital cost approach and alternatives evaluation, using a triple bottom line method for selecting the preferred alternatives included in the master plan.
Currently, Losli and the Burns & McDonnell St. Louis Water practice are managing the Lemay Watershed Program for MSD, which includes more than $1 billion in capital improvements to be constructed over 22 years. The project includes a 9 million-gallon storage tunnel, multiple storage tanks, combined and sanitary sewers, stormwater disconnections, sewer rehabilitation, and combined sewer separation projects. Burns & McDonnell is managing more than 75 projects in design or construction for the Lemay Watershed Program.
Rebecca earned a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in environmental engineering and Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, all from Washington University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Rebecca is a member of the Water Environment Federation, Missouri Water Environment Association and American Society of Civil Engineers, and is a past board member of the Engineers’ Club of St. Louis.
