Business competition announces new award categories to find and reward Essex’s most inspiring disabled entrepreneurs
Essex (PRWEB UK) 9 June 2016 -- In 2015, the Essex BIG Business Boost competition attracted more than 200 entries, and delivered tens of thousands of pounds of business support, training and cash prizes to small businesses across Essex.
Now the competition is back with a new format for 2016. The Essex Innovation Programme and Essex County Council’s Employment and Skills Unit have this year teamed up to deliver two new disability awards celebrating the diversity of entrepreneurship flourishing in Essex. The 2016 Essex BIG Business Boost will feature the ‘Disability Entrepreneur Award’ and a ‘Personal Triumph Award’.
The aim of the Disability Entrepreneur Award is to find entrepreneurs with great business ideas who can, with the support offered by the Essex BIG Business Boost, develop these ideas into successful businesses.
The Personal Triumph Award is a nomination-only award to recognise Essex business people who have overcome personal or physical challenges to successfully run a business.
Two winners of the Disability Entrepreneur Award, alongside one Personal Triumph winner, will take home a cash boost of £2,000 each, plus a free business training and support package.
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Partnerships, Essex County Council said: “These brand new awards are an exciting addition to the BIG Business Boost. People with disabilities can show that Essex means business by coming forward with their innovative, entrepreneurial ideas. There is plenty of advice and guidance on offer to take great business ideas to the next level.”
