The BBB of Metro Atlanta, Athens and Northeast Georgia is a standards-based organization and is one of five BBB’s in the state of Georgia and 113 BBB’s in North America. They are one of the largest BBB’s and provide pre-purchase information to the public, rating companies from A to F. They handle over 50,000 complaints each year, of which over 80% are resolved, and receive over three million inquiries on their web site.
According to Fred Elsberry, President of the Metro Atlanta BBB, "The Better Business Bureau’s vision is a marketplace where buyers and sellers can trust each other. We want to be a leader in advancing marketplace trust."
Elsberry went on the explain that the BBB reviews charities against their standards, offers mediation/arbitration services where they believe it is necessary to resolve an issue between a consumer and a company, conducts ad reviews and investigations on practices that need attention, and invests a great deal of time and resources to consumer education.
