Houston (PRWEB) December 17, 2014 -- A campaign to get free early education reading/writing books called the “DeskCaddies” into the hands of needy children is being launched by inventor Kevin Peterson and NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady (T-Mac). The pair has teamed up to promote children’s literacy and a patented, proven product Peterson says offers “beginner tools that can help anyone learn how to read and write faster than any learning books in the marketplace.” For every DeskCaddy purchased DeskCaddy will be donated to a child in need somewhere in the world.
“We invite parents to improve their child’s learning effectiveness with DeskCaddy. Every DeskCaddy they purchase will enable us to send a DeskCaddy to a child in need. With this buy one/give one offer, together we can make a real dent in the illiteracy rate,” said Peterson.
Peterson and McGrady are both fathers who feel passionate about children’s literacy. Both have spent time in Africa and been shocked at the epidemic of illiteracy there (and around the world). Both have vowed to help in any way they can. The numbers are astounding: Approximately 67 million children do not have access to primary school education and another 72 million miss out on secondary school education (UNESCO). Three out of five children in developing countries and refugee camps have no learning tools to read or write. Many have no hope of ever attending school someday. “Free DeskCaddies will go a long way toward addressing these dismal statistics. Every child deserves a DeskCaddy -- and every desk needs one!” said McGrady.
According to Peterson, the inspiration for DeskCaddy came from trying to teach his young son to read and write. Frustrated by too many disconnected tasks and learning methods and too much paper mess, he set out to solve these problems for himself and other parents.
The result is DeskCaddy, which provides a combination of games and social skill activities put together all-in-one. DeskCaddy picks up where other, less effective teaching methods leave off. Another benefit is reducing paper waste in the learning environment.
DeskCaddy is patented and has been tested in preschools, home schools, daycare centers, and adult literacy programs. It is available online at http://www.deskcaddy.co. Each purchase sends one DeskCaddy to a library or early childhood education center in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America or the United States. Distribution will be based on demand as well as availability in the region.
Those who purchase a DeskCaddy will receive autographed memorabilia from Tracy McGrady and a chance to win other prizes such as dinner with T-Mac or a spot in his junior training camp.
DeskCaddy is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund mass production.
The money raised will be used for production, printing of the current DeskCaddy books, providing more educational series, printing in 10 different languages, tooling new board games and distributing the free DeskCaddy giveaways.
Kickstarter funding is especially important given that each order is really TWO orders, the Kiskstarter campaign is going live on 12/22/2014.
