Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) June 30, 2016 -- Phish, a band known for their blending of musical genres, improvisation, and devoted fan base, recently kicked off their 2016 summer tour in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The tour is scheduled to continue through September with dates across the United States.
The band will perform for two nights at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia and for three nights at the Gorge in George, Washington; Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York; and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. Like other summer tours, the tour will end with three nights of shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
Changes to Stage Design
Fans were surprised by a major change to the stage setup for this tour. The band changed the lighting rig they use as a backdrop. They are now using LED panels that surround them on stage while they play, in addition to several panels that hang about 22 feet above the stage.
During the first set, the LEDs look like a single large panel. After the second set begins, they are split into a series of 78 smaller screens. The entire panel measures 5.6 feet tall and 51.2 feet wide. Flashing abstract colors and “pop art” content are projected on the screens throughout the show.
The light show is operated by TAIT Navigator. The show uses 10 hoists to lift the screens above the stage and a NavHoist lighting package with another 36 hoists to control the lighting rigs that are also controlled by TAIT Navigator.
