Cabinet Outsource Hosts Open House to Showcase its Sustainable Initiatives
Brea, CA (PRWEB) June 12, 2015 -- Cabinet Outsource, one of the leading cabinet and closet manufacturers in Orange County, has proved its commitment to sustainability by taking several initiatives over the last 6 months. The company, whose portfolio includes FCS Certified wood cabinets for Green Building and LEED certified projects, has been integrating several environmentally sound initiatives in its day-to-day operations.
The largest one is the 192 kW, 700-panel roof-mounted solar power system, which is expected to generate over 80% of the building’s electricity needs. Installed by one of the leading solar integrators in Southern California, Vaha Sustainable Energy, the system is estimated to produce more than 8.25 MWh of energy in the next 30 years, which is enough to power up 1,100 residential homes. “We are excited to generate our own energy and a clean one at that” said Aaron Clark, the President of Cabinet Outsource. “The solar panels not only provide us independence from the ever-increasing electricity rates, but also are expected to pay for themselves in 4 years, so we thought it was a pretty sound investment”. “Cabinet Outsource is using the 30% Investment Tax Credit to reduce the system cost and that is a clever way to use its tax dollar to build a revenue-generating asset.” added Gaye Tomlinson, Vice President of Vaha Sustainable Energy.
The company also installed solar tubes, which provide natural light to the workshop. “The staff really like them because the natural light provides a much more comfortable work place” said Clark. Additionally, in an effort to do its share for the California’s big drought issue, the company has changed its landscaping to artificial turf.
Cabinet Outsource is holding an open house at its Brea facility on June 16 to showcase its new machinery, operations and its sustainability efforts. The event is co-hosted by The Woodwork Institute, the leading trade association dedicated to the preservation of the use of wood as a building material.
