CADsoft Consulting Hosts AIA Arizona Special Presentation
Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) July 17, 2014 -- CADsoft Consulting Inc., a premier provider of technical design and engineering solutions will be hosting a special presentation at their Tempe office on behalf of the Arizona Chapter of AIA on July 17, 2014.
The presentation will cover how the National Park Service and Autodesk carried out the first comprehensive digital survey to preserve the USS Arizona and Memorial. This collaboration marks the first time sonar, underwater laser scanning, and photographs are brought together to create an intelligent 3D model.
Autodesk Strategic Project Executive Pete Kelsey led a team to conduct the first comprehensive survey of the Arizona Memorial and the USS Arizona in 30 years. Terrestrial and subsea types of SONAR and photogrammetry were combined for the first time ever to create a highly accurate computer model of the memorial and of the ship. The National Park Service (NPS) had three main concerns for the site, those being bio growth, corrosion and oil leakage. Combing the reality capture data types in Autodesk ReCap and Autodesk Infraworks is providing NPS with the ability to monitor change over time and make informed decisions going forward regarding the preservation of the historic site.
AIA AZ, Autodesk and CADsoft Consulting have teamed up to offer this presentation over the lunch hour on July 17th to AIA AZ members when Pete Kelsey, a 27-year resident of Arizona, will present the project with 3D computer models, videos and historic photographs.
