CafeGive Launches #GivingTuesday Campaign with Holiday Card That Supports The Children’s Heart Foundation
(PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- The countdown to the newest and biggest day of giving is underway. With only two weeks left until #GivingTuesday2013, thousands of organizations around the world are gearing up to give back.
GivingTuesday is a new movement that unites businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations in collaborating to create real change in their communities during the holidays. In 2012, New York’s 92nd Street Y teamed up with local businesses to launch the first ever GivingTuesday, and used social media to rally over 50 million customers and companies via Facebook and Twitter. This year, CafeGive Social -- a mobile and social cause marketing solutions company -- joins forces with The Children’s Heart Foundation to launch a GivingTuesday campaign for children in need.
CafeGive kicks off the giving season to raise donations for The Children’s Heart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope and happiness to the children and families impacted by congenital heart defects. In the spirit of the holidays, CafeGive has created a dynamic digital card that spreads cheer and simultaneously gives back to CHF. For every new "Like" the card receives on Facebook through December 4th, CafeGive will donate $5 to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects in children.
Why #GivingTuesday?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are renowned days for shopping and doorbusters, but now there’s a global day dedicated to charitable giving: #GivingTuesday. As a company that helps connect businesses and nonprofits with consumers around the causes they love, GivingTuesday is a natural fit for CafeGive - a registered giving partner.
By teaming up with The Children’s Heart Foundation, CafeGive is helping to create lasting change in the lives of children with congenital heart defects. In fact, if just one percent of the estimated $62.1 billion that will be spent on Black Friday was also reinvested in children's health, it would be enough to buy 1.3 million fetal heart monitors, pay for 23,000 pediatric surgeries, and give countless children a new lease on life. In addition to supporting children with congenital heart defects, The CHF also advances scientific research to aid in the treatment and prevention of the disease.
“GivingTuesday is the perfect opportunity for CafeGive and The Children’s Heart Foundation to channel the generosity of the holiday season and leverage social media to inspire awareness and action,” said Sandra Morris, CEO of CafeGive Social.
Consumer response to GivingTuesday has been phenomenal, with over 50 million people tweeting, sharing, and taking part in 2012. On December 3rd 2013, CafeGive and the Children’s Heart Foundation join over 5,000 other civic-minded businesses and nonprofits for the second annual GivingTuesday. The GivingTuesday movement grew from social media and a team of dedicated businesses, individuals, and nonprofits that wanted to make a difference, and now CafeGive and The CHF are continuing the new tradition by using social media to give back.
Saving Lives - One Like, One Heart at a Time
Congenital heart defects are the number one birth defect in America, and social media provides an unprecedented way to share information and raise awareness. CafeGive and The Children’s Heart Foundation are partnering to ask their communities to make this holiday season less about getting, and more about giving, and to join them in celebrating #GivingTuesday.
The CHF and CafeGive’s digital holiday card challenges people to “Like Us, Give Back.” The campaign --a CafeGive App-- doubles as a virtual holiday card as well as a fun, festive way to help raise funds for The CHF. By simply “Liking” the card on Facebook, every fan and follower prompts another donation from CafeGive to CHF. The more new “likes” the card receives, the more CafeGive will donate to CHF, up to $1,000 - it’s that simple. After “Liking” the card, supporters can easily share it with their social networks, encourage their friends to do the same, and help spread the word about CHF’s life-changing resources. The CHF has partnered with CafeGive on multiple campaigns to tap into the strength of mobile and social media, and CafeGive is proud to again support CHF with this exciting #GivingTuesday campaign. Two of CafeGive's founders have served on the board of this organization in Oregon. It is a cause near and dear to CafeGive, and this is one more way the company is working to raise awareness and support the important work of the organization.
In honor of #GivingTuesday, CafeGive is also donating three free consulting hours to any business or nonprofit looking for a extra help on its GivingTuesday social media marketing strategy. Creating effective marketing campaigns takes resources, talent, and time, which can be in short supply for many businesses and their nonprofit partners by year-end. By contacting CafeGive, organizations like CHF and its business partners can receive professional tips and ideas to help them tap into the power of social media and even create their own inspiring #GivingTuesday campaigns.
