Caktus Group Launches First East Coast Django Code School
Durham, NC (PRWEB) January 26, 2015 -- Caktus Group, the nation’s largest Django web application firm, is announcing the launch of Astro Code School in Spring 2015. The code school will be the first East Coast program specializing in Django, an open source web framework. The technology stack will also include Python, Linux, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
“We came up with the idea of the code school as a way to find and grow potential hires, not just for us, but for everyone. The more Django developers out there, the better it is for the Django open source community as a whole,” says Caktus Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Colin Copeland. “We want to help set best practices and train folks to get out of the gate with the proper Django skills.”
Astro Code School will operate as a separate company. Areas of instruction include Python and Django Web Engineering via 3-week boot camps for beginners, 12-week training programs for intermediate and advanced developers, and on-site corporate training. The first and lead instructor will be Caleb Smith, a Caktus developer and current adjunct instructor for advanced application development at UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
“I’m very excited about the possibilities of providing training that can lead to high paying jobs for all kinds of people. Helping folks get to the next level is professionally very fulfilling,” says Brian Russell, the new code school director and former owner of Carrboro Creative Coworking, North Carolina’s first coworking space.
Construction for the school is underway on the first floor of Caktus’ newly renovated headquarters in Downtown Durham. The school will have 1,795 square feet of dedicated space.
