Cal State’s Chancellor’s Office controls spend with eProcurement from ESM Solutions
Warrington, Pa. (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- The Chancellor's Office for the fourth largest public university system in the nation is gaining better control and visibility of its spending with eProcurement from ESM Solutions, the spend management company announced today.
The Chancellor’s Office in Long Beach, Calif., the central location for the California State University system, leads the massive network of higher education institutions with 460,000 students; 47,000 faculty and staff members; and an annual budget of more than $5 billion.
Leaders selected ESM after migrating multiple financial systems to a common ERP. The new system highlighted the need to focus on procurement improvements and better spend management.
ESM has helped Cal State reduce off-contract spending; share expenses for governance and other resources; reduce administration costs; and work across campuses to cut expenses and improve negotiating power.
Those benefits came, in part, with Cal State’s adoption of ESM’s easyPurchase, a cloud-based eProcurement shopping solution that helps organizations manage spend, control costs and improve compliance.
So far, more than half of Cal State’s 23 campuses have implemented ESM’s various procurement and spend management features. Among the latest campuses to sign on with ESM include:
• San Jose State University in the heart of Silicon Valley. The university, the founding school of the Cal State system and the oldest higher education public institution on the West Coast, has more than 32,000 students and a staff of 4,000.
• California State University, Dominguez Hills, in Carson, Calif. More than 14,600 students attend Dominguez Hills, which has an academic staff of nearly 700.
• Sonoma State University, in Rohnert Park, Calif. The campus has more than 9,000 students and an academic staff of 540.
