California Council on Problem Gambling Issues Thank You to Supporters While Congratulating Re-certified Casinos
Temecula, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- The California Council on Problem Gaming (CCPG) has announced that two casinos, San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino and Viejas Casino and Resort, have recently re-certified as Responsible Gambling Facilities in the state for their eighth consecutive years. CCPG also notes that a new property, Redwood Hotel • Casino, completed its certification for the first time earlier this month. To earn this certification, each property must fulfill a comprehensive list of requirements including property-wide training, appropriate marketing and a demonstrated willingness to promote responsible gambling within their establishments. In addition to announcing the re-certifications, CCPG wishes to thank its supporters for their help throughout the year.
According to statistics from the 2006 California Prevalence Survey a vast majority of Californians enjoy gambling from time to time, but for 3.7 percent of the people gambling grows into a problem. This amounts to about one million adults in California who experience a problem with gambling each year – a problem which not only affects themselves, but may also impact family, friends, employers, co-workers and other important people in their lives.
CCPG is a non-profit organization, and that means it relies on help from supporters to provide its services to the state and the state's casinos. A CCPG spokesperson indicated the importance of this support: "Without our supporters, including the United Auburn Indian Community, BlueCom360, the Barona Band of Mission Indians, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and many others, we would not be able to provide essential help services to tens of thousands of Californians each year. We want to thank them for their support throughout 2014."
The money donated by these supporters helped fund CCPG's awareness, outreach, and education programs. Through these efforts, many Californians who are struggling with gambling addiction were able to get help. "Our supporters are one of our most valuable assets," stated the CCPG spokesperson. "We really cannot thank them enough for their help. With their support, we are able to make California's gambling community a safer one while also lessening the impact of gambling addiction in our state."
