California Dental Hygienists’ Association (CDHA) Mourns the Loss of Dr. Ester Wilkins
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2016 -- The profession of dental hygiene has lost a most iconic educator in Dr. Esther Wilkins. On Monday December 12, only three days after her 100th birthday, Dr. Wilkins suffered a stroke which ultimately resulted in her passing.
A graduate of Tufts University, Dr, Wilkins is best known for her major contribution to education by way of her textbook “Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist”, affectionately known as the ‘bible’ for dental hygiene. Dr. Wilkins was well respected and loved by dental hygiene students and professionals everywhere she traveled. Many have memories of meeting her in person and photos to capture such events.
The CDHA Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts quickly flooded with condolences and memories of Dr. Wilkins acknowledging her significance to dental hygiene and how greatly she will be missed.
California dental hygienists, members, students, and educators will forever hold her memory close and wish only the best for her friends and family at this difficult time.
