California Lawmakers Agree with Bob DeBrino - The Innocent will No Longer be Mugged
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- The innocent will no longer be mugged, thanks to the law that went into effect in 2015 and was inspired by Bob DeBrino, acclaimed producer and writer for several films including Find Me Guilty, which starred Vin Diesel, Peter Dinklage and was directed by the late great Sydney Lumet.
Bob DeBrino’s exploited mug shot and passionate story inspired State Senator Jerry Hill to fight back and now, California’s Governor Jerry Brown signed into law bill SB1027 that will bar so-called extortion websites from posting mug shots of people who have been arrested and then demanding payment to remove the photographs, even from people who are never charged with a crime.
Bob DeBrino, was arrested, but never charged, for driving under the influence while on prescription medication for an impending surgery and injury sustained while serving as a New York Police Officer. DeBrino's mugshot was posted online and when innocent DeBrino insisted it be removed, the web site company demanded thousands of dollars. As a result of Richard Nahigian’s brilliantly detailed legal motions, the case was dismissed by Judge Phillip Argento with a 15 page landmark decision (July 7, 2014 case # 4GN00281 with Superior Court of California, Los Angeles, CA).
“Here is a man that while a New York Police Officer, he received over 35 citations for bravery and has worked hard to establish a successful career in the film industry. Yet he finds himself working harder than ever, just to repair his tarnished reputation…an innocent man’s seemingly daunting task,” said Richard Nahigian, Bob DeBrino’s attorney.
“I never knew I would have to suffer financially and have my reputation tarnished, just to stop a crook,” said DeBrino. “It’s been a challenge as an innocent man to fight to rebuild my reputation. I’m just thankful for my solid friends who have never given up on me and those who know the quality of my work.”
“Bob has made a miraculous transition for a cop from the Bronx to a Hollywood writer and producer,” said Charles (Butch) Fries, iconic producer in Hollywood film and TV.
“Things are finally getting back on track for Bobby,” said Gray Frederickson, who has produced several highly acclaimed films including The Godfather (which he holds an Oscar Award for Best Picture) The Godfather II, Apocalypse Now and The Outsiders.
DeBrino is currently working on the Vatican Connection, which he is producing with Ed Pressman (known for his work in movies such as Wall Street, The Crow, American Psycho) and the VJ Records story which is now being directed by the acclaimed Romeo Antonio.
