Call for Grant Applications: Adapt Courseware Seeks Qualified Institutions for Adaptive Learning Research Grant Program
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Adapt Courseware, the provider of comprehensive adaptive online curriculum resources that individualize each student’s learning experience, is accepting applications for the second phase of its Adaptive Learning Research Grant Program. Throughout 2014, Adapt Courseware will examine adaptive learning principles in large-scale online and flipped classroom implementations, resulting in measurable learning outcomes in a financially sustainable way. Multiple year-long grants of up to $40,000 each are available to qualified institutions. Completed applications are due November 1, 2013.
Adapt Courseware has already conducted validation studies across two-year and four-year public and private institutions for the 2012-2013 academic year. The results demonstrate higher student performance, completion, retention, and satisfaction in its adaptive learning sections when compared with other more traditional online courses.
“Our research indicates that the learning experience doesn’t have to be any less personal or effective simply because students are participating in a large-scale setting. By applying the best educational methodologies and adaptive learning strategies, educators can support an increasing number of students in a more engaging, collaborative and productive manner,” said Dr. John Boersma, CEO of Adapt Courseware and a former university faculty member. “Our grant program gives schools an opportunity to address the challenges of quality, access, and cost that Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and others in higher education refer to as the Iron Triangle.”
Each grant recipient will implement online adaptive learning sections with 1000 or more students across multiple sections in one or more disciplines for the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2014 terms combined. Subjects include Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Financial Accounting, and Organizational Behavior. Students will be admitted and enrolled in the adaptive learning sections using the same criteria and paying comparable tuition as the control groups.
Regionally and nationally accredited private and public two- and four-year institutions, community colleges, and large K-12 districts are invited to apply. Adapt Courseware also encourages collaborative projects that integrate the efforts and resources of more than one college or professor.
