CALM Energy, Inc. Chosen by RISE:NYC to Make New York City Small Businesses More Resilient to Storms
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 01, 2015 -- CALM Energy, Inc. has been selected by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) RISE:NYC initiative to enhance the resiliency of small businesses in New York City by deploying its CALM Energy Watchdog™ product at multiple locations. Energy Watchdog™ is a smart controller that maintains ongoing awareness of building conditions, weather, and the state of the electric power supply. It uses that information to manage generators, HVAC equipment, lighting, and other building systems so as to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate the impact of power outages.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that CALM Energy, Inc. and 10 other organizations had been selected from a field of over 200 applicants to participate in the RISE:NYC grant whose purpose is to offer innovative resiliency-related technologies to at-risk and vulnerable small businesses in the area affected by Super Storm Sandy. "RISE: NYC is part of the City's comprehensive suite of initiatives to mitigate the effects of severe weather and climate change on New Yorkers, and all of the winning technologies will help support and strengthen small businesses across the City," said NYCEDC President Kyle Kimball. "Each of the 11 innovative winning technologies will make the City a safer, stronger and more resilient place, creating economic support and additional opportunities for New Yorkers and small businesses."
CALM Energy will deploy clean distributed generation with CALM Energy’s adaptive control system at multiple buildings, offering resiliency to the buildings where the technology is deployed. The product will also provide the opportunity for individual buildings to interact with electric utilities’ demand response programs automatically, improving the resiliency of the grid used by all New Yorkers.
