Calo Welcomes Dr. Robert Burroughs as Research Fellow
Lake Ozark, Missouri (PRWEB) October 07, 2015 -- Dr. Burroughs is moving from Academic Director of Calo Teens to a higher level role as Research Fellow to all Calo Programs: New Vision Wilderness, Calo Teens and Calo Preteens.
When Dr. Burroughs joined Calo Teens over 2 years ago, Academics was on the brink of moving into a new building and transforming the teacher-led classroom experience. Along the way, Dr. Burroughs and his team created a solid curriculum of core classes and electives; summer sessions packed with hands-on classes; extra-curricular opportunities like drama and talent shows; and now an expanded art program. Having accomplished much as Academic Director, this move into a new role further leverages Dr. Burroughs deep experience and education.

Both from a professional, personal and academic perspective, Dr. Burroughs is the perfect person for this role” said Stavros.
In this role, Dr. Burroughs will be responsible for further developing Calo’s proprietary outcome tool measure for developmental trauma called the CATI (“katy”) – Calo Attachment and Trauma Inventory. Dr. Burroughs will also spend time on a variety of other outcome measures as it relates to the YOQ, School, Health, Canine Therapy and Neuro Therapies.

About Dr. Burroughs
Robert Burroughs, PhD, is an experienced researcher, writer and editor. Bob earned his PhD in 1995 from the University at Albany, one of four designated research campuses in the State University of New York (SUNY) system. As a tenured professor at the University of Cincinnati, he published a number of research articles in peer-reviewed journals on the subjects of curriculum, instruction, and teacher education. Several of his articles on teacher education involved research on teacher proficiency outcomes. His article, “Communities of Practice and Discourse Communities,” was published in the peer-reviewed journal Teachers College Record (2000) and is considered a definitive study of teacher outcomes. Other research articles have appeared in Research in the Teaching of English and Journal of Curriculum and Supervision.
During his 15-year tenure at University of Cincinnati, Bob made numerous presentations at national and international conferences, including the American Educational Research Association, the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, and the National Council of Teachers of English. He was an invited speaker by the Dutch Reading Foundation at its Conference on Reading and Reading Promotion in a Multicultural Society in Utrecht, Netherlands. Since retiring from University of Cincinnati, Bob has made presentations at NATSAP, IECA, and ATTACh. His latest lecture last month at the ATTACh conference in Minneapolis covered Calo’s academic program and student outcome data.
Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati, Bob worked in publishing at a number of different publishing companies, including Scholastic Inc., located in New York City, where he was Editor and Publisher of Scholastic’s computer magazines for teachers. Current articles of his have appeared in the Attachment and Trauma Network’s Journal (2014) and Adoption Today (2015).
