Calvin McDonald’s New Book Challenges Churches to Reform
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- In his new book “From the Coffin to the Cross: A Much Needed Awakening” (published by WestBow Press) author Calvin McDonald offers readers both an indictment and a solution for modern North American evangelical churches.
“This book exposes many of the sinful practices that have invaded the ranks of modern ministry,” McDonald says. “It defines our theological systems and gives evidence of the difference in beliefs. It calls the church to get back on track with the principles defined in Scripture.”
An excerpt from “From the Coffin to the Cross”:
“In a prophetic vision, God showed me the evangelical churches of North American channeling all their spiritual energy into the works of their own hands, enshrining these works as a divine manifestation of God while living in rebellion to His word of truth. We have forsaken the mandate of the Azusa Street Revival and have been shutting the door more and more to all possibilities for any future revivals and awakenings in North America.”
McDonald’s sincere devotion to – and concern for – evangelical Christianity is clear on every page of his book. He sees the issues he addresses as crippling churches across the continent, and challenges them to return to “a blood-washed, spiritually alive church.”

About the Author
Calvin McDonald was born in 1969 in Cooper’s Town on the Island of Abaco in the Bahamas. He preached his first sermon at the age of 15, shortly after losing his mother to cancer. Spending many years trying to run away from the call of ministry, McDonald lived a life of sin, going in and out of the church, but not participating in ministry at all. He returned to ministry after 10 years as a landscape contractor, with his bank account full of money but yet feeling empty. An inner voice asked the resounding question: “If you were to die today or tomorrow, would your life have been worth it?”
