Camp Snow Cubs Offers Great Winter Break Alternative for Children with Special Needs
Twinsburg, OH (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- For children with special needs, changes to their schedule can represent a challenging situation. The experts at Peak Potential Therapy have announced the dates for Camp Snow Cubs, a social, developmental day camp for children with a variety of disabilities.
"Camp Snow Cubs is a way for us to help stabilize the schedule changes that occur over the holiday school breaks," said Holly Reimann, M.A., CCC-SLP, the founder of Peak Potential Therapy. "The day camp offers kids with a variety of disabilities - from developmental delays, to autism, to Down's syndrome to cerebral palsy - a way to build on the skills they have been learning in a fun, natural environment." In fact, the camp focuses on developing peer relationships, play behaviors and social communication skills for children aged five to thirteen.
The camp staff exposes the kids to a variety of different indoor and outdoor activities that will help them to try new skills and build relationships with other children. "The campers will have a chance to do everything from going swimming and bowling to outdoor sledding, hiking and tubing. We believe these activities, combined with the expertise of our staff, makes for not only great memories, but terrific skill building in a short amount of time," said Reimann.
The camp itself is limited to five children per group, with a speech therapist and aide assigned to each group. "Having a ratio of 2.5 kids to one staff member means that each child gets the focused attention of one of our staff members. Kids don't feel that they are being 'hovered over,' but they do feel like there is someone nearby all of the time," said Reimann.
Currently, the camp's registration fee has been discounted from $689 for a five-day session down to $599. Information on the camp and registration forms and be found at http://www.peakpotentialtherapy.com/campsnowcubs.html.
