Canto Unveils Robust Adobe® InDesign® Client for Cumulus Enterprise Digital Asset Management Software
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2016 -- Canto, a leading provider of digital asset management (DAM) solutions, today announced its Cumulus enterprise DAM software is now available with a robust Adobe® InDesign® integration that allows powerful, two-way data exchange between Cumulus and InDesign to speed and enhance creative workflows for users across the organization. A webinar highlighting the new offering is scheduled for February 10, at 10AM PT / 1PM ET.
Now available, the new integration is a key feature included in Cumulus version 10.1, the latest release of the DAM pioneer’s metadata-driven enterprise-class software. Other top additions include updates to the Cumulus web client as well as new capabilities for the Cumulus client-branded portals to improve and streamline the user experience.
“Canto has devoted long hours and our top experts to this integration, which is one of the most significant in our company’s history,” said Leslie Weller, Director of Marketing, Canto. “The Canto team believes the all-new Cumulus InDesign client is the best Adobe InDesign integration to DAM on the market, with stand-out features that simply aren’t available anywhere else.”
Cumulus 10.1 is not only differentiated by two-way data exchange with InDesign, but it also goes beyond drag-and-drop functionality to allow users to write metadata back into their DAM system from within InDesign. Completed INDD, PDF, metadata and linked asset files can be uploaded with ease back into Cumulus as a new version of the document or layout. Data exchange also takes place in the opposite direction via drag and drop from Cumulus into an INDD design project.
As part of the integration, four Cumulus panels—spanning asset categories, asset records, asset previews and asset information—are available for accessing DAM features and functionality within InDesign. In addition, users can personalize the fields they want to display, including choosing the metadata they see from their list of “record view sets” to ensure the right versions of the right images are selected, stored and shared.
Users can also revert back to older versions of an asset as needed at any time, and files placed from a user’s computer into InDesign also get uploaded and tracked automatically as related assets when the master document is saved to Cumulus. This saves time by eliminating the need to hunt for, or relink, assets when another person opens the InDesign file.
“Beyond enhancing efficiency and organization, one of our top objectives overall with the integration was consistency across the user experience, encompassing metadata views, permissions and more—whether users are working from within InDesign, the Cumulus Web Client, or the Cumulus Admin Client,” said Thomas Schleu, CTO, Canto. “The key is to speed up creative designers’ workflows by creating a direct connection from Adobe InDesign to their corporate library of assets managed in Cumulus. And by being able to work from within their creative tools, they can dramatically minimize the time and effort of opening, downloading, uploading and linking files.”
Updates to Cumulus Branded Portals and Web Client
For Cumulus branded portals, the 10.1 release gives users unlimited access to brandable read-only, download-only portal data, opening the door to broader use of the DAM platform, as well as added convenience. Users can also sort all basket and collection content by name, date and type to increase productivity, and set a category as “top level” to display only its assets and subcategories on the portal’s homepage screen.
Updates to the Cumulus web client in 10.1 include a new security feature that ensures that connections always route to https, along with custom or definable asset relation types, new automated workflow capabilities, and enhanced support for controlled vocabularies.
“Not only does Cumulus 10.1 provide a more collaborative and centralized way to manage the access and delivery of digital assets for InDesign users, but it also records very specific and detailed information on license and copyright agreements, which is critical to avoiding copyright infringement lawsuits,” said Weller. “We’re proud to bring this powerful InDesign integration to our customer base at a time when demand for both software platforms is greater than ever.“
Recently, Cumulus was named at the top of Capterra’s list of the “The Top 20 Most Popular DAM Software Solutions.” For more information, download Canto’s latest e-book, “How to Manage a Successful DAM Project,” here.
