Caravan Rug Corp. Announces Bamboo Silk Rugs Collection
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- The Caravan Rug Corp., a long time mainstay of the California rug industry, will introduce bamboo silk as a primary or secondary ingredient in some of their newest handmade area rugs in 2014.
While most people associate bamboo with a rough, woody material, silk yarn spun from bamboo plants has a soft, silky sheen and mixes well with other fibers, such as wool and linen. Bamboo silk not only serves as a less expensive replacement for actual silk, but it also shares some of cotton’s better qualities, such as coolness and breathability. In addition, bamboo silk is naturally hypoallergenic and mold resistant, which is great news for allergy sufferers.
Bamboo silk was first used in making clothing, mostly in China and Japan, and has become quite popular all over Asia, not only because of low price and its silky quality, but because it is a highly eco-friendly material. Bamboo plants are easy to grow and reach maturity very quickly. They are usually organically grown without pesticides, and bamboo silk is biodegradable.
Caravan plans to add more rugs this year made with this “fabric of the future” and bamboo silk is currently featured in several of their modern rug collections, including the Cloud Bamboo and Everest collections. These as well as many other rug collections are available for viewing online at Caravan’s extensive online store.
In addition to operating their giant rug showroom in the Los Angeles area, Caravan Rug Corp. is a major manufacturer and distributor of fine handmade area rugs. They supply their private label creations to a large network of dealers all over the country. Caravan owns several manufacturing centers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal, where these rugs are hand woven in the centuries-old method.
