Care Communications, Inc. and the University of Pittsburgh Announce the Launch of the CAREinnoLab
(PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- Care Communications, Inc., a national health information consulting and outsourcing firm, and the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Health Information Management, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences announced today the creation of a new research entity named the CAREinnoLab. The CAREinnoLab will conduct ongoing research and objective analysis in the field of health care data quality and health information management to determine innovative best practices that when adopted can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the U.S. health care system.
The CAREinnoLab research agenda includes a focus on practices to help provider organizations respond to evolving complexities, including electronic health records and coding classifications systems. Health information best practice recommendations will be developed through surveys, observational research, case studies, statistical analyses and comparative effectiveness studies.
“The launch of the CAREinnoLab is in keeping with the mission that Care Communications was founded on 37 years ago, and that is to improve health care data quality and thereby help improve the quality of health care,” said Leslie Ann Fox, Chief Executive Officer, Care Communications, Inc. “Studying and providing insights into best practices in health information and how it is produced and used is very important to the future of health care in the United States.”
The first CAREinnoLab study is underway with a tentative completion target of August 2014 and is titled: “Transitioning to ICD-10: Physician Resource Requirements, Data Quality Trends and Leadership Challenges.” Future studies will focus on data quality in health information, leadership and cancer registry technologies and patient engagement.
