Care Packages for Local Vets and the Homeless Collected by Realtor Jeff Stoffel
San Bernardino, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2017 -- In honor of Memorial Day on May 29, Realtor Jeff Stoffel, president of Century 21 Showcase, is hosting a donation drive to help veterans and the homeless in San Bernardino County. Items needed include gift certificates for food, canned food and toiletries, which can be dropped off at Century 21 Showcase, 7835 Church Street, Highland, CA. Donations will be given to LightHouse Social Service Centers, which provides support services for veterans, veteran families and the homeless.
“Supporting veterans is important to me and Century 21 Showcase for numerous reasons. Many of our Showcase family and clients are veterans and have served our country and sacrificed a lot,” said Stoffel. “They have shared firsthand how so many veterans are struggling, even with some of the most basic of human needs. Budget cuts the past many years have decimated the funding on many of the programs that veterans relied on. I am hoping that non-veterans will see this as an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to our veterans in a way that will show them they are respected, appreciated and are not alone by making a donation.”
According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, an estimated 39,471 veterans are homeless on any given night. Furthermore, two-thirds served our country for at least three years, one-third were stationed in a war zone, and approximately 1.4 million other veterans, meanwhile, are considered at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing.
