CareOne Commits to Long-Term Mission for Puerto Rico Relief
FORT LEE, N.J. (PRWEB) October 20, 2017 -- CareOne, a premier family-owned healthcare company with more than 30 centers in New Jersey, recently embarked on a mission with fellow New Jersey healthcare leaders to assess the damage and destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
CareOne Chief Strategy Officer Tim Hodges joined doctors from RWJBarnabas Health to visit hospitals, determine medical supplies needed, and evaluate how best to address the immediate needs of the island’s medical community, while also developing a long-term strategy for recovery.
Hodges, along with 20 physicians and healthcare representatives from New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, traveled to Puerto Rico from Teterboro Airport on two planes chartered by CareOne on Wednesday, October 11.
This initial recovery mission included hospital tours, patient visits, and facility assessments. It received widespread media coverage from outlets including NBC 4 New York, ROI NJ, ABC 6 Philadelphia, FOX 29 Philadelphia, The Record, and Fios News 1.
In addition to underwriting the costs of the two chartered planes, CareOne is overseeing multiple relief efforts in Puerto Rico. The family-owned healthcare company has two facilities on the island and has been working to ensure the proper dissemination of supplies to medical facilities. It has also been transporting patients in need from the hurricane-ravaged island.
The October-11 recovery mission was the first of what CareOne expects to be many visits to Puerto Rico as it works with its team and network of affiliates to bring immediate assistance as well as long-term recovery to medical facilities, patients and physicians on the island.
To further support its recovery work in Puerto Rico, CareOne, under the vision of President and CEO Daniel Straus and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus and in cooperation with InnovaCare, are hosting the “Starry Night Masquerade” at the Skylight Clarkson North in New York City with the goal of raising millions in support of hurricane relief efforts on October 19.
