CareOne, Executive Leadership Announced as 2017 Corporation of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year by Make-A-Wish® New Jersey

Straus, and its Executive Vice President, Elizabeth Straus, as the recipients of the charity’s 2017 Corporation of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year awards. CareOne and its executive leadership will be honored at the Make-A-Wish New Jersey Gala on June 8th at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
CareOne’s CEO Daniel Straus and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus will be celebrated as the joint recipients of the Make-A-Wish New Jersey 2017 Humanitarian of the Year award as a result of CareOne’s 200 Wishes fundraiser that took place at the Prudential Center in February 2017. Through their hard work, diligence and commitment to Make-A-Wish New Jersey, the Strauses and CareOne raised $1.3 million in support of the children’s charity at the 200 Wishes event and helped grant a significant number of wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions throughout New Jersey.

Spearheaded by the Straus family and CareOne, the 200 Wishes Fundraiser attracted more than 1,000 attendees in February. The Prudential Center was transformed into a candy-land themed wonderland for the day and demonstrated CareOne's commitment to the power of caring, giving, and hope in helping to strengthen and empower children battling life-threatening medical conditions. The 200 Wishes event and the resulting commitment from CareOne represents the single largest corporate gift, $1.3 million, in the New Jersey chapter’s 34-year history. The average cost of a wish is $10,000.
The one-of-a-kind event was part of CareOne’s long-standing and ongoing commitment to charitable organizations. It included ice skating on the New Jersey Devils’ ice rink, carnival games and prizes, a Build-A-Bear Workshop experience, and special guest appearances by Olympic Medalist Nancy Kerrigan and other world-champion skaters, among many other special experiences and all-star guests for its attendees. Similar to the 200 Wishes event, CareOne selects a charitable organization to support every year, with past initiatives raising more than $5 million in funds for organizations including Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, Boston's One Fund, The Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
