CareSource Foundation Provides Funding for 59 Nonprofit Organizations in Ohio
Dayton, Ohio (PRWEB) June 22, 2015 -- The CareSource Foundation has awarded grants for the first and second quarters of 2015. The Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations in health and human services domains with a focus on children’s health, issues of senior adults, community health, special needs populations and strategies to address the medically uninsured throughout the state of Ohio.
CareSource is a leader in cultivating partnerships that enhance and improve the health care and life services for consumers. All of these grants have been selected through a rigorous review process that evaluates innovation, impact and sustainability.
“Since we launched in 2006, the CareSource Foundation has invested more than $10.1 million in grants. The mission of the foundation has always been to positively impact the health of our consumers and our community. Our partnership with almost 500 nonprofit organizations throughout Ohio helps to strengthen that important health and human services safety net.” said Cathy Ponitz, Executive Director of the CareSource Foundation.
CareSource 1st and 2nd Quarter Foundation Grants Highlights:
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton (Dayton) provides affordable housing through homeownership to families with low or moderate incomes. The CareSource grant of $15,000 will provide new homes to two families in stable neighborhoods. A total of 4 adults and 9 children will benefit from these new homes.
- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Cincinnati) created the Patient Access Program to improve the quality of life of cancer patients by being a resource for the patients and their families. The pediatric programming arm focuses on dealing with the physical and mental health ramifications that come with leukemia treatment. The CareSource grant of $10,000 will support this program’s operation.
- The Lorain County Free Clinic (Cleveland) is a mission-driven organization providing quality healthcare to the underserved in Northeast Ohio. The clinic has four locations and has been in operation since 1986 when it was founded by local physicians, hospitals, and civic leaders who noticed a need in the community. The CareSource grant of $10,000 will provide operational support for the Medical Services Program.
- Public Children Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO) (Columbus) is a statewide organization of agencies working to protect and provide vital services to children in Ohio. The CareSource grant of $15,000 will fund the goals created by the Behavioral Health Leadership Group (which was convened by PCSAO). Goals include greater access to comprehensive services under the federal EPSDT benefit with a priority on Intensive Home-Based Treatment, trauma informed care, and the Minds Matter program.
