Carestream Advanced Materials to Present Latest Developments for Transparent Conductive Films at FLEX 2015
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (PRWEB) February 18, 2015 -- Carestream Advanced Materials today announced that two of its experts will present the latest developments for transparent conductive films at the upcoming FLEX 2015 conference February 23-26 in Monterey, California. They will make back-to-back presentations beginning at 1 p.m. on February 26, Session 25.
Carestream is known for its innovative FLEXX Transparent Conductive Films based on silver nanowire (AgNW) technology. The company’s experts will discuss the advantages of AgNW-based films compared to indium tin oxide (ITO) films and reveal how effective percolation modeling could lead to resistance breakthroughs.
Michael Steward, Director of Product Management at Carestream Advanced Materials, will present the current development of silver nanowire based transparent conductive film. AgNW films are easily manufactured by an ambient, roll-to-roll coating process, with high throughput and low cost. Carestream's FLEXX transparent conductive films offer conductivity ranging from 10 - 150 ohms/square. These films maintain high optical transmittance and provide excellent flexibility and durability — at a lower cost compared to indium tin oxide (ITO) films.
Steward will review challenges associated with integrating AgNW films in flexible and printed electronics devices such as OLED displays. He will also share insights on addressing challenges with nanowire development, roll-to-roll coating and system integration. A roadmap for silver nanowire transparent conductive films and potential market opportunities will also be provided.
Robert Monson, Applications Lab Manager at Carestream Advanced Materials, will present a paper on effective percolation modeling that was co-authored with Carestream’s Andrew Fried, Lead Systems Applications Engineer. Monson will discuss how effective percolation modeling could lead to resistance breakthroughs with silver nanowire-based transparent conductive films. As the touch panel industry begins to use transparent films made of alternative transparent conductors, one of the more common materials being integrated has a randomized, self-forming network comprised of silver nanowires.
The ability to model and predict conductivity of potential nanowire networks is of great value to the electronics industry due to the expense of experimental runs. The different modeling approaches and their respective advantages and limitations will also be discussed — with recommendations provided on the collective value of the methodologies.
