Carmel Arts Council 20th Year Celebration at the Lucas Oil Estate Pavilion on November 2nd
Carmel, Indiana (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- The Carmel Arts Council, including 40 board, associate and auxiliary members, has been busy celebrating its 20th year anniversary with a formal Gala and fund raiser being held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 6:00 – 11:00pm, at the Lucas Oil Estate pavilion in Carmel. The event is open to the public who will enjoy a wonderful dinner, dancing and live and silent auction. Tickets are $150 per person. Proceeds go to supporting local art programs in the community as well as scholarships for qualified high school seniors entering college in the fall of 2014. The Carmel Arts Council, headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization whose mission is to encourage and promote the arts for all ages through leadership, financial and volunteer support in order to nourish a vibrant culture in the Carmel community.
For many years, The Carmel Arts Council, in conjunction with Piano Solutions in Carmel, has held the Young Performers Showcase where K – 12 youngsters perform in piano, instrumental, dance or vocal competitions. In addition, qualifying high school seniors who excel in the arts may participate in the spring Scholarship Division where one scholarship is given to each winner in four categories: Performing, Piano/Instrumental, Literary and Visual Arts. All year long, The Carmel Arts Council opens the door to the World’s Smallest Children’s Art Gallery, registered by the Guinness Book of World Records. The Children’s Art Gallery is located at 40 W. Main Street in Carmel. From September through May, The Carmel Arts Council features artwork from elementary school students representing the elementary schools in Carmel. In 2013 the Children’s Art Gallery is expected to receive more than 5000 visitors. In addition to supporting the Children’s Art Gallery, The Carmel Arts Council will introduce a new Children’s Cook Book which will feature easy recipes for kids and moms and the Cook Book will incorporate artwork provided by children. The Cook Book will be available in early 2014. The Carmel Arts Council is also collaborating with local elementary art teachers by providing art supplies where needed.
The Carmel Arts Council recently created a new high school membership program where students interested in the arts can visit with and be mentored by local artists. The Council along with local artists will promote special exhibits where high school students can feature their artwork. In addition to working with students, The Carmel Arts Council is also collaborating with The Barrington of Carmel to provide arts-related activities for senior citizens.
The Carmel Arts Council supports many venues throughout the community including the Carmel High School Spring Art Show, the Carmel High School Arts Garden, the Japanese Art Garden,and the Carmel International Arts Festival.
