Cartel Pictures Acquires Hollywood’s famous Tamarind Lithography Studio
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Cartel Pictures has acquired the famous Tamarind Lithography Studio, previously owned and developed by the late June Claire Wayne. With four buildings on 13,000 sq ft, the 1960 built property has been both home and studio to a litany of famous artists including June Wayne, Ed Ruscha, Richard Deibenkorn, Sam Francis, Philip Guston and Bruce Conner. This creative campus with its rich history in the fine art world is now the newly renovated headquarters for film production and entertainment at The Cartel.
Stan Spry and Eric Woods, Co-CEO’s of Cartel Pictures, have produced 12 films in 16 months for domestic and international markets, most in conjunction with Odyssey Media’s Kirk Shaw - also an investor in the new studio. “We’ve been moving at a lightening pace and needed room to grow and expand our in-house capabilities,” says Stan Spry. “This is the perfect place for us, and we look forward to a bright future in our new home.”
Stan Spry, along with partner Jeff Holland, have also built the management company Cartel Entertainment, which has a first look studio deal with Entertainment One, and will also operate on site.
The Hollywood location places this independent studio in proximity to Paramount, Sunset Gower Studios, Sunset Bronson Studios, and Raleigh Studios.
The distinct and charming property provides a community atmosphere that includes management offices, editing suite, production offices, casting offices, and film stages. “This propels our in-house film development, production and post,” says Eric Woods, “and allows us to provide space and services to other independent productions that will continue cultivating this creative campus.”
