Carter’s Operation Fundraiser - Local 12-year-old Creates Windfall for Local Homeless Shelter
Naples, Florida (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- Carter Koester, a fundraiser and philanthropic 7th grader at North Naples Middle School, is delivering “Carter’s Operation Fundraiser” this week. Borne out of his frustration with the fundraising methods of the school system, “Carter’s Operation Fundraiser” was his idea to double the benefits for organizations in need.
“They send us out to sell stuff that nobody who can afford to buy them really even wants,” says Carter, “but most everybody wants to make a difference.”
So he decided to fundraise for his orchestra, but he wanted to help others too. He decided to offer the cheesecakes, pumpkin rolls, pizzas and cookie dough, to friends and family, but with the understanding that they would never see them. Instead, he would be delivering them to a homeless shelter where these hardly “needed” items, would be celebrated.
With the support of social media, gifts and support came in from across the country.
“The response was over-whelming because of why people responded,” says Carter.
“It’s really a celebration the ingenuity of such a young social entrepreneur,” said Carter’s mom, Julie Koester.
Carter intends to promote “Carter’s Operation Fundraiser” for schools and organizations nationwide through the fund-raising companies who provide the service as well as through the nation's public school system.
Carter Koester is a local 12-year-old who has consistently been concerned with social justice. He has been featured in Inside Pelican Bay (Dec. 2012), about his commitment to give back and where non-profits are challenged.
