Carve Halloween Pumpkins Like a Pro with Rockwell’s New F80 Duotech Oscillation Sonicrafter
Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) October 18, 2016 -- It gives even the most exacting pumpkin carvers the shivers to discover how quickly and precisely the new Rockwell® F80 Duotech™ Oscillation Sonicrafter® can create the ultimate jack-o-lantern. This versatile performer works harder and faster than any other multi-tool and enables carvers to choose the oscillating angle and accessories that best fit their monstrous masterpieces.
The Rockwell F80 Duotech Oscillation Sonicrafter is the only multi-tool that provides a choice of two oscillating angles: 5.0° and 3.4°. Pumpkin carvers can choose the 5.0° oscillating angle when making fast, aggressive cuts for quick results or the 3.4° angle for continuous, precise control.
Rockwell’s Universal Fit™ system allows the Sonicrafter F80 to accept other major brands’ accessories without adapters. Also, Rockwell universal accessories are designed to fit all other competitive oscillating tools. This means carvers can use nearly any oscillating tool accessories on the market for cutting, sawing, scraping and other tasks without sacrificing fit or performance.
Following are some tips on using the Sonicrafter F80 to carve a frightfully perfect pumpkin:
Be careful to pick the right pumpkin. Besides a good shape, it shouldn’t have any bruises, nicks or scrapes that will cause it to deteriorate before carving time. Having a smooth side without deep grooves can be a plus when later drawing a design or applying a pattern onto the pumpkin.
The next step is not for the faint-hearted. Carve a wide circle around the stem to make a lid for ghoulishly removing all the slippery, stringy goo and seeds inside. Instead of struggling with a kitchen knife or flimsy saw, use the F80 at a fast-cutting, 5.0° oscillating angle with an end-cut blade. Be sure the hole is large enough for your hand to fit through. Angle the cut inward to keep the lid from falling back into the pumpkin.
Most of the pumpkin’s innards can be removed by hand or with a large spoon or ice cream scoop. However, the last remnants of stringy goo usually adhere to the bottom. The F80 quickly detaches them with a stroke of a flex scraper blade set at a precise, 3.4° oscillating angle.
A face or other design can be drawn directly on the pumpkin with a felt-tip pen. Or else, a pattern or stencil can be attached to the pumpkin with painter’s tape. A wide variety of free pumpkin carving patterns and stencils are available online.
Use an awl or nail to pierce shallow holes about ¼ in. apart along each line of the pattern, then remove the pattern. Cut along the marked lines of holes from the pattern with the F80, using an end cut blade at a 3.4° oscillating angle. In addition to making plunge cuts, some areas of pumpkin skin can be removed with a scraper blade. This technique helps create a 3D effect, as well as a translucent glow when a candle or battery-operated luminaire is placed inside the pumpkin.
To keep more complicated carvings intact, it’s best to carve the smallest sections of the design first. Start at the center of the design and work outward toward the perimeter.
Besides creative pumpkin carving, the Sonicrafter F80 is the tool-of-choice for many other do-it-yourself and craft projects. Use it at a 5.0° oscillating angle with an end-cut blade to cross-cut, rip or make plunge-cuts in wood and other materials. This option also is handy for trimming doorjambs, clipping nail heads and cutting PVC or metal plumbing pipes. Change over to a 3.4°angle, using a rigid scraper blade, to remove blistered paint, take rust to bare metal or scrape hardened caulk or adhesives. Switch to a carbide grit semicircular blade to grind grout from between floor or wall tiles.
The F80 also features the industry’s best maximum cutting load of 35 lbs. of force. This means it can be pushed harder than any other brand of multi-tool without stalling the blade.
The F80’s powerful 4.2-amp motor delivers 10,000 to 19,000 oscillations per minute and incorporates electronic constant speed control that maintains the tool’s operation rate under load. The F80 also has an internal counterweight to offset movement and ensure smooth, accurate cuts.
Sonicrafter oscillating tools feature a spring-loaded centering mount that positively engages accessories with the help of the Hyperlock™ tool-less blade change system. Hyperlock provides one ton of clamping force to prevent accessory slippage. This is the highest accessory clamping force on any tool-less oscillating tool.
The Sonicrafter F80 comes with 10 Universal Fit accessories, including three 1-3/8” end-cut blades (bimetal, precision and standard), one 3-1/8” HSS semicircle saw blade, one flex scraper blade, one sanding pad and three sanding sheets, plus a hard case. The compact case features separate bulk storage areas for quick and easy access to the tool and accessories. Its rigid, durable construction provides ease of stacking and transport.
