Castlewood Recognizes Trending Patient Needs by Opening New Day Program to Treat Eating Disorders
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- Castlewood Treatment Center in St. Louis now offers a Direct Admit Day Treatment Program. Officially open January 19th, 2015, this direct-admit Day Treatment level of care is distinct from a residential care program. A day treatment option meets the increasing demand for clients requiring daily or near-daily therapy for an eating disorder, but not 24-hour structure and supervision. The Day Treatment program is distinct from Castlewood’s innovative Step Down partial hospitalization program in that an individual can be directly admitted into Day Treatment, as opposed to transitioning into this lower level of care from Castlewood’s Residential Treatment Program.
This special program is located on the property of Castlewood II, a treatment facility set on over fifty natural acres near Castlewood State Park. Participants in this program receive group therapy and meals at a specially designed Day Treatment House. Depending on their personalized care plan and unique needs, a client spends up to 12 hours a day, seven days a week in Day Treatment. Three individual therapy sessions, a weekly session with a psychiatrist, and a weekly session with a dietitian are provided in addition to group therapy. A unique level system allows clients to reduce treatment hours gradually and at the same time slowly increase autonomy. As recovery skills become stronger, clients have more independent opportunities to practice these new skills while still having professional clinical support. Clients in Castlewood’s new Day Treatment Program reside in nearby recovery apartments. Lodging is complimentary for program participants, along with free transportation to and from the recovery apartments to the Day Treatment House.
“This is one way we try to meet the needs of our clients,” said Rebecca Baker, Program Director. “Because we treat individuals from across the country, we feel it is important to provide a transportation option to those who don’t have access to a car during treatment or may not have a driver’s license.”
According to the Eating Disorder Coalition (EDC), over 11,000 million Americans have an eating disorder. Both men and women are affected, and many have related issues that require concurrent treatment, such as anxiety or depression. Providing the right treatment, at the right intensity, and at the right time is essential in order for someone with an eating disorder to recover. By offering all levels of care, Castlewood can seamlessly meet the needs of each of their clients as they are guided through the continuum of care, as well as providing essential family support and education.
