Castlewood Treatment Centers Unveils New #1LifeAtATime Campaign to Promote Eating Disorder Advocacy
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) September 14, 2016 -- Eating disorders are common among men and women alike, yet conditions such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder (BED) remain all too often obscured by stigma. Though misinformation abounds, education holds the answer. Castlewood Treatment Centers believe that even one-person sharing the truth about eating disorders can make a big impact; Castlewood is taking this empowering message to the masses through a new awareness-raising campaign, identified by the hashtag #1LifeAtATime.
“We often underappreciate what a difference one life can make,” said Nancy Albus, Chief Executive Officer of Castlewood Treatment Centers. “The goal of #1LifeAtATime is to remind people that a single voice can make a big difference. When one person raises awareness regarding eating disorders, that passion can spread to their friends and ultimately throughout their community, creating a ripple effect of change.”
Castlewood’s #1LifeAtATime campaign will draw attention to the power of one, and encourage individuals to educate themselves, raise awareness, encourage others to seek eating disorder treatment and ultimately to become ambassadors of recovery.
“We want people to understand the harsh realities of eating disorders, but also to know that hope is always there, that treatment works, and that recovery is always attainable,” said Nicole Siegfried, Ph.D, CEDS - National Director of Eating Disorder Program Development at Castlewood Treatment Centers.
The #1LifeAtATime campaign will begin in September, with video, blogs and social media activities to promote the campaign, raise awareness, and encourage advocacy. In subsequent months, new material will be focused on certain monthly themes, all relating back to the central premise of the power of the individual.
“Whether you have your own recovery story to share or are motivated by the struggle of a friend or loved one, we want you to know that your passion and your voice can make a big difference. Advocacy and awareness may start with you, but it won’t end there,” Siegfried said.
